Girl Scout Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas are gearing up for their annual Pink U health and wellness event on October 22 at Texarkana College. This year’s event will focus on health, confidence, fitness and fashion while providing a variety of fun activities.

Girl Scouts will learn about healthy living by attending classes teaching aerobics, self-defense, nutrition, fashion and first aid skills. In the afternoon, participants will learn the ins and outs of makeup application and hold a confidence/modeling class. To conclude the day, the program will feature a fashion show in which the girls will model their craziest pink attire down the runway before an audience of breast cancer survivors and other guests.

Texarkana College’s culinary and cosmetology departments will volunteer their time, students and expertise to help bring the event to life. The culinary department will prepare a healthy lunch for the girls and the cosmetology department will show the girls the importance of skin care. Girl Scouts – Diamonds is continuing its partnership with Susan G. Komen Texarkana to present the event and other local businesses and organizations in the community will participate as well.

Pink U is an event that teaches girls of all ages about the importance of health, confidence, fitness and fashion. Girls ages 5-18 are invited to attend this event for females only with an adult female of their choosing, and girls’ parents and breast cancer survivors are invited to be the fashion show audience.

You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend, but registration is required. Event cost is $7 per person before October 12. After this date the registration fee will increase. Visit www.girlscoutsdiamonds.org or call 870-773-2151 ext. 2016 to register.
