Sources Say Producers of TNT's Dallas reboot are trying to figure out the best way to give J.R. Ewing a fitting send-off, following the death of Larry Hagman on Friday.

Hagman, who played the villainous oil tycoon in the original hit show and its remake, had already filmed six of 15 episodes for the upcoming second season of the reboot. He will be seen when the new Dallas returns to TV January 28, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

The first season ended with J.R. and his son, John Ross, played by Josh Henderson, plotting to destroy Christopher, played by Jesse Metcalfe, and Elena, portrayed by Jordana Brewster. J.R. had spent some time in a nursing home for depression.

On Friday evening, Dallas executive producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael M. Robin released a joint statement saying Hagman was "a giant, larger-than-life personality" and loved playing "this globally recognized character." There currently is no indication of how the actor’s death will affect the show’s scripts.
