6TH Annual Hillier Community Health Fair is this Saturday July 28 from 9AM to noon.

This community event is named after Marguerite Hillier who was an educator in the Arkansas School System for  42 years. A graduate of Arkansas High, teaching at North Heights Jr. High, Washington Intermediate and being Principal of Trice, College Hill Elementary and College Hill Middle School. She had a tender heart for the needs of her students             .

Hillier and  her Pastor has a vision to help this city, to start students off to a good school year with supplies, a back pack and a new haircut.  It has evolved in recent years to educate not only students but our seniors with what is available for them. We have senior screenings as well as kindergarten physicals.

This is an all FREE event for the public and will going on Saturday 9AM to noon at the Faith Assembly of God, located at 2001 Arkansas Boulevard in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Last year the event helped 562 families, over 2600 individuals. There was over 60 vendors, school supplies and over 1,000 backpacks were distributed and they expect that number to increase by around 250 this year.

Also, last year over 560 boxes of groceries were distributed . Also handed out over 300 hard hats for Kids, 400 Gideons New Testaments. Almost 90 back to school haircuts were given and they need people who can cut hair to volunteer this year.

Other numbers from last year include 175 Kindergarten physicals, 150 Senior screenings, 150 blood pressure/sugar screenings, 63 eye exams, 21 blood donations to LifeShares, and 70 people filled out job applications to try and find employment.

They expect even higher numbers this year. If you want to help out and are interested in being a vendor, please contact Jason Griffin at the Church 870-773-1234.
