CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System is pleased to announce William Micah Johnson MSN, BSN, RN, has been named the new Administrator/Chief Nursing Officer of CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital – Atlanta.

A graduate of Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock, AR, Johnson holds a BSN from Arkansas Tech University and an MSN from Texas A&M University-Texarkana with an emphasis in healthcare administration. He brings 15 years of nursing experience to this leadership and management position for CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital - Atlanta. Johnson will oversee patient care delivery, nursing and nursing practice at the facility.

According to a press release, Johnson has worked in and led nursing units across a wide variety of settings and organizations to include Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Cardiac Cath Labs, and medical units in large urban facilities, small rural hospitals, and specialty hospitals. His most recent position prior to starting his nursing leadership position in Atlanta was manager of the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System Intensive Care Units in Texarkana, and he gained considerable clinical experience at Arkansas Heart Hospital and Trinity Mother Frances (Now CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System) in the roles of staff nurse, charge nurse, supervisor, and assistant director as well.

Johnson joined the Atlanta family in January 2017 as Director of Nursing. He replaces the Administrator role previously held by Thomas McKinney, who is now serving as the President for CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital - Alice and CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Kleberg in South Texas.

“McKinney was with the CHRISTUS St. Michael ministry for 18 years and provided wonderful leadership across our ministry,” said Karam. “He began the journey toward many successes during his time in Atlanta, and our board, administration and every Associate looks forward to Micah Johnson building on these efforts in the future.”
