CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital - Atlanta is partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation – Atlanta District and the Northeast Texas Traffic Safety Coalition, along with other local organizations and businesses, to help local children learn about health and safety with Kids’ Safe Saturday on June 16.

The event will be held from 10AM to 2PM on Saturday, June 16, at the Atlanta Highway Department, located at 701 E. Main Street, Atlanta, Texas.

According to the press release, “This event provides an interactive and engaging environment for children of all ages to learn about health and safety,” said Nicole Fant MSN, RN, SCRN, who is the RN Program Manager – Trauma/Stroke and the Chest Pain Coordinator at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital - Atlanta. “This is an initiative of the Think Child Safety, which aims to instill knowledge to keep families and communities safe. Community programs like Kids’ Safe Saturday are important to CHRISTUS Health and our efforts on behalf of the people of Atlanta and the Cass County area, and we’re very excited to be co-hosting this event.”

This family event is open to the public, and no registration is required. It will offer informational, educational, and hands-on booths for the youth of our community, as well as safety demonstrations and other learning activities.

“There is going to be a ton of great stuff going on at the event,” said Fant. “Spirit of St. Michael providing free asthma screenings. We will serve free hot dogs, there will be a Bicycle Rodeo – and kids who bring their bikes will receive a FREE helmet donated by the Texas Department of State Health Services, plus a lot more.” There is a limited supply of helmets.

The event will also feature free first aid kits for the first 100 families (1 per household), a Firehouse Simulation, the chance to drive a pedal car, and an opportunity to meet State Troopers, Local Law Enforcement, Firemen and EMS staff.
