Texas A&M University Texarkana’s Program for Learning And Community Engagement (PLACE) has chosen “The Southern Experience” as the theme for this year’s programming. Today, if you eat at TLC between 10:30am – 3:30pm and mention 'TAMUT' a portion of their proceeds will be donated to PLACE and local charity/non-profit organizations.

It's almost that time! Time for 27th Annual Community Fish Fry at the University of Arkansas at Hope. It all takes place on Friday, October 23, from 4:30PM -7:00 p.m. This year it will be corona style with drive-through only.

COVID-19 still continues to change things for universities. Southern Arkansas University announced that they will still waive the ACT and SAT composite score requirements for freshman admissions through fall 2021 entrance. The students will still need to meet other academic requirements.

Southern Arkansas University is going above and beyond when it comes to fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The University made the decision early on to purchase two Rapid Testing machines over the summer which has given them a big advantage this fall in against COVID-19.

It gets hot in our area in the spring and summer especially when there's no shade. That's why there is this great program for schools in Arkansas where they can receive shade trees for playgrounds. The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the 2020 Shade Trees on Playgrounds (STOP) program now through September 25th for schools needing additional shade on playgrounds. Covid-19 strikes again as New Boston High School officials have decided to cancel the next two football games due to some of the players testing positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 has put a stop to a lot of things but not so for the enrollment at SAU. You might even think there wasn't a pandemic going on at all!

The job market is starting to come back and with school back in session, there are some positions that the Texarkana Independent School District is looking to fill.

With Hurricane Laura on the way, Texarkana and surrounding areas are under a Tropical Storm Warning. To be on the safe side these school districts in our area have closed for Thursday, August 27. Please be aware that a few school districts on the list will still have virtual classes.

Texarkana College will move to a virtual format for all courses and student services for Thursday, August 27, 2020, and Friday, August 28, 2020, due to the threat of severe weather in our area.

Time is running out and soon the deadline to apply for the seventh annual Arkansas Grown School Garden of the Year Contest will be here. The deadline is September 13. The Arkansas Grown School Garden Program was created to showcase Arkansas schools that have developed gardens to support innovative and hands-on learning.
