The Bowie County Sheriff's Department has made a recent drug arrest in the county.Deputy Danny French was dispatched to the 3300 block of Pleasant Grove Road to arrest a man who had an active arrest warrant. Deputy French made contact with 51-year-old Billy Lynn McDonald of Texarkana.

Deputies say there were two outstanding warrants that were confirmed for McDonald’s arrest and he was taken into custody. The first warrant was for a "Failure to Appear on Assault with Bodily Injury" and the other warrant was for a "Parole Violation."

During McDonald's arrest, he allegedly had methamphetamine and marijuana in a pocket of a pair of shorts he was wearing beneath his blue jeans. McDonald was also charged with "Possession of a Controlled Substance Under One Gram" and "Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces," as well as the two warrants he was initially taken into custody for.

McDonald was booked into the Bi-State Jail where his bond was later set by Judge Nancy Talley at $5,000 for each of the charges. No bond has been set so far for either of the warrants for which McDonald was initially arrested. The investigation is continuing.
