YouTube

While his estranged Black Sabbath band mates are touring Latin America, founding Sabbath drummer Bill Ward is recovering from a serious medical procedure.  post on the 65-year-old rocker’s website reports that Ward recently had an operation in California after suffering an intestinal condition called a “perforated diverticulitis.”

According to the message, the surgery was a success, and Bill “is expected to make a full recovery over the next several weeks.”

The illness has forced Ward to postpone an October 26 appearance at the Annapolis Collection Gallery in Maryland, where the debut exhibition of his artwork first went on display.  Ward was slated to discuss the pieces he created for the exhibit, titled “Absence of Corners: A Collection of Rhythm on Canvas.”

“I am truly sorry that I have to postpone the Absence of Corners gallery reception,” he says in a statement.  “The feedback I have received from everyone about this project has been astounding, and I was so looking forward to this event.  I want to thank the Annapolis Collection Gallery for everything they are doing. I am honored that they are exhibiting my art.”

A rescheduled date for the event will be announced when Ward recovers from his surgery.
