Bill Murray only gets cooler with age. Sure, the legendary actor may have gotten pickier with his choice of roles in in recent years, but he's made up for his reduced screen time by being the Most Awesome Guy On The Planet, appearing in random places and spreading oddball joy wherever he goes. The latest incident involves a bachelor party in Charleston, South Carolina, which Murray crashed to deliver a truly incredible speech.
Everyone expected 'Godzilla' to take the number one spot at the box office this weekend, but few people saw it doing business that rivals 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.' 'Godzilla' didn't just win the box office this weekend, it conquered it, proving that after all of these years, the king of the monsters is still a massive draw.
This season of 'SNL' has been all about truly weird and experimental digital shorts, so it only makes sense that guest host Andy Samberg (who helped pioneer them in the first place) would help make one of the strangest. There's almost no dialogue in this sketch and the joke isn't immediately accessible, but it's the kind of specific and eclectic comedy that 'SNL' tends to excel at when it wants to.
'SNL' is frequently at its best when it decides to go full gonzo and last night's episode featured a sketch that represents the show at its weirdest. Presented as a screening of an old '60s surfer movie called 'Bikini Beach Party,' the sketch features Taran Killam and guest host Charlize Theron as young lovers in a campy musical who decide to share a romantic moment on the beach ... next to the methane-filled corpse of a dead whale.
All of the trailers for 'Godzilla' have put emphasis on tone, showcasing the aftermath of epic monster rampages and giving us tons of close-ups of people whose days have been pretty much ruined. But this new TV spot does something a little different, selling the human story behind all of the chaos and destruction. Oh, and it does so while offering our best look yet at Godzilla himself.
It really doesn't feel like 'SNL' unless there's a commercial parody video, which have been the show's bread and butter for decades. Last night's episode had the first memorable fake ad in awhile, offering a look at the thankfully fictional CNN pregnancy test.
What begins as a fairly typical 'SNL' sketch soon transforms into one of darker sketches the show has put on in recent memory, exploring the dissolution of a marriage thanks to dog food choices. Guest host Seth Rogen and regular cast member Cecily Strong bring their finest comedic chops to the scene, wringing every possible ounce of discomfort out of every moment.
Like so many comedy shows, 'SNL' has occasionally felt like a boy's club, with the guys getting much of the best material, crazier characters and more memorable sketches. This has shifted in recent years and now the women of the show are allowed to get just as weird and nasty as their male counterparts. In a way, it all feels like it's been building up to this. Are you ready for "Dongs All Over the World"?

If the main goal of 'Divergent' was to snag a large portion of the audience for 'The Hunger Games,' it looks like it succeeded. Although it didn't reach the absurd heights of Katniss' two movies, Shailene Woodley's dystopian adventure effortlessly nabbed the number one spot and, unless something bad happens next week, announced the arrival of a new big franchise.
With Lena Dunham hosting the show, there was no way 'SNL' wasn't going to do some kind of 'Girls' parody. And with the recent release of 'Son of God' and the impending arrival of 'Noah,' there was no way the show wasn't going to take a shot at the recent biblical movie revival. So here we are, with a hilarious fake trailer for 'Girl,' which simultaneously skewers the story of Adam and Even and your average episode of HBO's 'Girls.'
