Not to be outdone by some of the bigger, more action-packed and commercial films playing trailers during Super Bowl 2014, George Clooney's 'The Monuments Men' has just dropped its trailer for this Sunday's big game online because it's a film about men and war, and these things are very manly -- just like football, you see.
If you're like some of us around here, you mostly watch the Super Bowl for the hilarious commercials and the awesome new movie trailers. But there's one you won't be seeing on TV: Scarlett Johansson's Super Bowl commercial for SodaStream, which was banned from airing during the upcoming game.
Finally, after months of development, J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he's ready to move on to the next stage: this weekend at the Television Critics Association, the director confirmed that the script has been completed for 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' and that the production is now in "deep prep" on the upcoming film, which is scheduled for a December, 2015 release. Well that's a relief.
Miles Teller has been picking up steam lately with roles in 'The Spectacular Now' and 'Whiplash,' which opened the festivities at this week's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. And right on the heels of that premiere comes word of Teller's latest role: playing comedy icon Dan Aykroyd in the upcoming John Belushi biopic, starring Emile Hirsch. At least that's what Hirsch says.
The 2014 SAG Awards winners were revealed on January 18 during the ceremony hosted on TNT, with presenters including Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Tina Fey, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner, and many more. Unlike the Oscars, the Screen Actors Guild Awards acknowledge both film and television -- and unlike the Golden Globes, they recognize ensemble casts in addition to individual performances. They even include a category honoring stuntmen and women for their action performances in film and television. Read on for the nominees and winners of the 2014 SAG Awards!
A newlywed couple (Allison Miller and 'Friday Night Lights' star Zach Gilford) returns home from their honeymoon with an unexpected pregnancy, but as the husband documents their lives, the pair begin to notice that something isn't quite right with the baby. 'Devil's Due' is the latest entry in the found footage horror genre, and while it does have its fair amount of creative visual effects, the thrills are hardly thrilling in this paint by numbers occult chiller.
Dave Madden, beloved star of the classic television series 'The Partridge Family,' has passed away at the age of 83. Madden played the role of the family's oft put-upon band manager Reuben Kincaid, who often was annoyed by the shenanigans of young Danny, played by former child star Danny Bonaduce. Madden was also the star of the '70s show 'Laugh-In.'
It brings us great sadness to report this news on the first day of the New Year -- James Avery, the beloved actor who portrayed Uncle Phil on the hit '90s sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' has passed away at the age of 68. Avery, who passed away late last night in Los Angeles, was an actor known for his warmth, and continued to appear on many TV shows over the years after 'Fresh Prince' concluded.
As you're probably aware by now, Stephen Colbert of 'The Colbert Report' (and formerly of 'The Daily Show') is a huge fan of 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit,' so when given the chance to make a cameo in Peter Jackson's latest installment in the franchise, the satirical late night host jumped right on it. And thanks to the awesome power of the internet, you can now peep his cameo in 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' without leaving the comfort of your home!
Released in 1988, 'Scrooged' was a darkly comedic take on Charles Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol,' starring Bill Murray in the Ebenezer Scrooge role as Frank Cross, a cynical TV executive alienated from his family and unable to find real happiness. Struggling to put together a live production of 'A Christmas Carol' on Christmas Eve, Frank finds that his real life begins to resemble the story he's producing as three ghosts visit him throughout the evening to try and get him to change his ways before it's too late.
The film took Murray from battling ghosts in 'Ghostbusters' to learning lessons from them, and over time it's become a holiday comedy classic. 25 years later, we take a look back at the cast of the film and see where they are now.
Leave it to Vin Diesel to bring us all the breaking news this weekend. Yesterday, the actor posted a photo on Facebook of himself with a statue of Groot from 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' confirming what we already pretty much knew about his part in the film. Tonight, the actor brings us official word on the anticipated release date switch of 'Fast and Furious 7,' which has now sped into a 2015 slot.
Warner Bros. has apparently looked at its DVD shelf and randomly selected '60s TV series 'Gilligan's Island' as the next property to get the big-screen modernization. The studio has chosen to polish off the property and give it a go with 'Jobs' and 'Book of Mormon' star Josh Gad, who will co-write and star in the film adaptation. And it should be a pretty easy, paint-by-numbers job since the roles and plot are all spelled out in the theme song.
