More and more we’ve been hearing about AMC’s efforts to expand their broadcasting slate, both with the addition of new reality series like ‘Freakshow‘ and ‘Immortalized,’ as well as the wealth of new dramatic and comedic pilots being put through development to fill the slots of departing series like ‘Breaking Bad‘ and ‘Mad Men.’ We’ve certainly kept our eye on Revolutionary War pilot ‘Turn,’ which today has cast two new leads in Australian newcomers Meegan Warner and Daniel Henshall, but who will they play? Will the drama attract any other recognizable names before its debut?

Perhaps one of AMC’s most intriguing pilots on the development slate, today Revolutionary War drama ‘Turn’ has officially begun the casting process, adding Australian newcomers Meegan Warner and Daniel Henshall into the mix. Based on Alexander Rose book ‘Washington’s Spies,’ and written by show-runner Craig Silverstein (‘Nikita’) and executive produced by ‘Bones’ Barry Josephson, ‘Turn’s 1778 narrative follows New York farmer Abe Woodhull as he “bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence.”

Warner will play Mary Woodhull, a mother against the thought of her young son becoming a soldier or involving her family in the war with England, while Henshall will play former whaler Caleb Brewster. Described as nearly fearless, Brewster acts as lieutenant in the Second Continental Artillery, loves fighting hand-to-hand, and eagerly awaits fighting the British.

What say you? Do you think ‘Turn’ will be the next powerful drama on AMC?
