High School marching bands from around the Ark-La-Tex met Saturday October 1st in Tiger Stadium at Grim Park to battle it out for the awards, and most importantly, the bragging rights! This was the first marching competition I had been to since I was in high school… and the place seemed smaller.

It was a day full of tough competition with some really great performances.  Bands were judged in four categories… Drum Major, Color Guard, Percussion, and Band, in that order.  As you will see below, the competition was really good, and all of the bands did an awesome job.  No matter what school they are from, when you see something like a hat fall off, or a majorette dropping a baton, you know that it will count against the band’s over all scores and it’s just heartbreaking for those kids.  They spend so much time and effort working on their routines, and it definitely showed… I enjoyed all of them a great deal.

Here are the Bands that performed, and their scores… (with a 1 being the highest score.)
