The longest-lasting "" in the animal kingdom is apparently coming to an end, after decades of bliss between two 115-year-old giant turtles.

The Austrian Times reports the "couple" has lived at an Austrian zoo for 36 years, after spending decades more together at a zoo in Switzerland.

But after more than a century together, Bibi and Poldi may finally be ready to slowly play the field: they are no longer willing to shack up together in their enclosure. The Klagenfurt Zoo's Helga Happ said: "We get the feeling they can't stand the sight of each other anymore."

No amount of couple's therapy seems to be working: attempts to get them to play or share special meals together have not borne any fruit
